I played Phase Ten with some of the people from my building today...
We played twenty-two rounds. I was on phase seven for the last fourteen of those.
Tony won.
It took us four hours and twenty-five minutes.
Fun Time!!

Cold Sweat and the Brew City Horns... among other things
So I started out my day by registering for Spring semester classes. I have a pretty gravy schedule :)
Drawing - MoWeFr - 9:55-11:50
2D Design - MoWe - 1:10-3:40
Art History - TuTh - 12:30-1:45
English 102 - Tu - 6:15-8:45
Bowling - TuTh - 8wk2 - 11:00-11:50
I'm looking forward to having only 12.5 credits. Art studio classes are super difficult and consume a lot of my time. I think I will be able to focus more on my artwork with an easier schedule.
Went to class as usual. Nothing special there.
Had dinner with some of my good friends. again, nothing too special.
Then I went to the all sorority social. We watched the Whitewater Christmas Parade together. It was nice and short, which was good... because it was freezing! Here is a picture of Ann-Marie, me, and Jen. Hott Fam! After the parade all us girls walked over to the University Center to decorate cookies.
After cookies me and some of the girls went to the Down Under to grab a bite to eat, and watched a performance by Cold Sweat and the Brew City Horns. That was pretty fun. Rachel got to meet the band and was ecstatic! haha! Here a few pictures of our good time...

Just a peek into my average life...
So, I don't really know what I started this blog for... but I hope any readers will enjoy it. I imagine I will use it to share random web links, recipes, my current feelings, song lyrics I come across, some artwork here and there... Maybe I will use it to document my life, and some of the eventful things that happen. I bet it will be interesting to look back on my thoughts, ideas, and interests a few years from now, when I start a new chapter of my life.
So... who am I?
My name is Melissa and I am originally from a small town called Columbus. Wisconsin, not Ohio. I am currently finishing up my 1st semester of college at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater. I'm majoring in art education so I can eventually teach art. College is proving to be rather difficult, especially because I got really sick with mono midway through the semester.
I am an active member of the Alpha Xi chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma. We all have our ups and downs, but I can honestly say I love each and every one of my wonderful sisters. I believe I made the right choice in deciding to join a sorority. My family means a lot to me, even though we are quite dysfunctional. My dad is a welder, and lives with my step mom and cat in an apartment in Columbus. My mom is a gas station attendant in Deerfield, where she lives with my aunt and cousin. This house is also the place I go when I come home from school. Another important family member is my grandma. She is old, and quite senile, but she is my world and I don't know what I would do without her.
I don't really have much of a life story. A few random things that may or not be interesting have happened. I have a few accomplishments :)
I was in the Miss Wisconsin Pre-Teen pageant when I was thirteen. I didn't place, and I wasn't devistated like all the other girls. I was, however, the 2007-2008 Miss Columbus 2nd Runner up. That was a big deal. It was all for fun, in my eyes. I'm not a crazy pageant girl with an insane pageant mother. Music was my passion, along with art... and unfortunatly I've let it slip some. I used to play the trumpet. I may be picking it up again next semester. We'll see.
I can't think of anything else too interesting at the moment. As I said, I wouldn't say I've lived a very eventful life ;)
I hope you enjoy the random tid bits of my life I choose to share with you. Please feel free to leave me any comments you have. :)
